The Pen Behind The Words: About N. Hilal

Currently pursuing my Master’s degree in Sociology in Germany while staying deeply connected to the cultural heartbeat of Ankara, my life is a constant movement between worlds. Navigating life fluently in English, German, and Turkish means I don’t just speak different languages – I decode different cultural realities.

Through extensive studies in Islamic Theology, I developed a profound fascination with ethics. By bridging this foundation with sociology, my work focuses on unraveling the moral architectures that govern our society. People build society, but it is through culture that our truest values are confessed. I view every aspect of life as a sociological text – from the shows we watch on a Tuesday night to the books we read on the beach, down to the unspoken rhythms of our daily conversations. I write to decode these hidden structures, not from an ivory tower, but firmly rooted in the everyday.

The Space Between The Lines: About Selîhâl

Selîhâl was born from a deep sense of intellectual responsibility. It is a human duty to seek knowledge, and eventually, to teach it. What we learn, we become. And with what we teach, we shape our surroundings.

Words are naturally a medium for self-expression, but writing is more than that: it is an obligation. If we possess the tools to analyze society, we owe it to the collective to share those insights, inspire thought, and foster growth.

Living at the intersection of East and West, tradition and modernity, the religious and the secular, I experience life on a multidimensional level. I don’t just observe these extremes; I analyze them. I built Selîhâl to serve as a bridge; a space dedicated to true understanding.

Selîhâl – Thoughts Unspoken is where theory meets everyday life. It is a curated space where pop culture, literature, and quiet, fleeting thoughts are dissected through a rigorous sociological lens. We don’t just consume media here; we read the world.

Everything is sociology. I am just here to provide the lens.
